Koholas Bloom

I wanted to paint a black and white whale with flowers to create a striking contrast between the majestic animal and the delicate details of the floral elements.  Therefore bringing harmony with the power of the whale and the softness of the flowers to symbolize a balance of the strength, beauty and grace. I added a slight iridescence around the flowers to emphasize their movement. 

The humpback whales have my heart. I've been lucky enough to swim with these majestic creatures in Tonga. The interactions were like no other. I don't know how to describe it other than they "see" you, they are just as curious about you as you are of them. You will get a playful calf that wants to dance and twirl with the sleepy mom hanging out 20 feet below, watching her baby play with you. Then there's the singer hanging out who's songs base notes fill your belly and chest so fully you feel like your vibrating along with them. We can't forget about the competition pods either, its like huge buses barreling past you, head lunging and bubble blowing along the way. Leaving you in awe of their raw power and how small you are next to them and yet they still see you just as much as you see them. Magic.   

 Each original acrylic painting is done on a wood panel, and this 24"x24" Koholas Bloom is finished with a natural wood frame.

All originals come ready to hang with a cleat or wire.
